Beachcombing

When I walk on the beach I look for a wee find each time. Sometimes a pretty shell, perhaps an interesting stone or piece of beach glass. But today, what a find. I spied a section of the base with a little blue paint sticking out from the sand. A little digging and to my surprise - Ganesha appeared. I expect he was washed in and buried in the last storm. I wonder where he came from. He has a home in the garden now, and a welcome addition.

  2. For real?
I am impressed, what a find.
Ganesha festival is around this time of year and followers traditionally throw idols into the water. Probably your little elephant was chucked overboard over the last week or so. Anyway this sounds like a lucky omen.

  3. How interesting, Wine Guy. I will have to research that! That sounds likely. I couldn't think how he would end up in the harbour, and then buried in the sand.

  4. Google was my friend! The festival when this happens starts today, so maybe he has been washing around the harbour since last year? The recommendation is that the Ganeshas thrown into water should be made of clay so they dissolve quickly. Even plaster of paris is not recommended as dissolving quickly enough, and plastic ones are a big ecological no-no! This chap appears to be cement based, so he will be one of the few who see another day.
