Metrosideros excelsa Maori Princess to be precise. Goes to 8 metres apparently, but that will take a while so will worry about the consequences in a few years hence. Another holiday project ticked off the list.
Mmmm. 8 metres is over 30 foot. This is high.
ReplyDeletePohutukawa also grow out by as much.

ReplyDeleteWe've got one, they are easy to control!
Mmmmmmmmmmmm!
ReplyDeleteA warning Second. Re-read Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, particularly the chapters on Ents. You will see what 'controlling' tress can result in.
It is a very upright variety, spreads 4 metres. Not the same variety that arhes so elegantly over idyllic beaches and upturned boats while children swing beneath its branches.
ReplyDeletePlus a certain seagull in a certain poem in a certain blog highly recommended living for the pleasures of the day at hand!
ReplyDeleteOK, I take it back.
ReplyDelete(I hope the seagulls don't roost in it).
